Time is very flexible if you land in the right group. Peers within group as well as middle management are typically wonderful people. Casual dress (sweatshirts and jeans are practically the uniform).
Minpunten
Some folks apparently were just promoted again and again because they're veterans. Many groups try to find an excuse to get out of extra work instead of do what they can to produce a quality product. Executive and HR notices to employees are posted on the company intranet in a terribly impersonal and frigid manner. It's almost always bad news so this method of delivery makes for quite the negative impact on the employee. The intranet sure does provide for interesting entertainment though. Could be a message about a 90% increase in some health care plans one day, and the next it's a message about how the plumbing is not working, the bathrooms are currently locked, and port-a-johns are being trucked to the parking lot asap. Riding the shuttle from the off-site lot to the building (for all n00bs) isn't the worst thing in the world, but it does get on your nerves every once in a while. Employees get .5 hour credit per day towards shuttle ride so that makes up for most of the hassle. The company could do wonders in the world of productivity if it would embrace modern technology (web access to email, IM, remote access, etc.).
