Very poor middle management and management practises, what does on behind closed doors is very different from what they claim their values are. Reviews are based on what you manager thinks of you rather than actual accomplishments, and advancement is based on who you're friends with rather than merit. If your manager doesn't like you or you're not friends with the right people, they will quickly strip you of any interesting work, bonuses and it's a downwards spiral until they push you out of the door.
