Don’t waste your time here. If you’re thinking of joining Merge don’t. Ignore the positive reviews on Glassdoor, which are all being posted by current employees at the request of the CEO, you are much too good to be working at this company. Just find people on LinkedIn who are no longer at Merge and reach out to them directly for honest feedback. Overall, Merge is run by two very inexperienced co-founders, both of which enable a highly toxic work environment. The toxic culture at Merge goes well-beyond what you might expect to find at an early stage startup. Long hours, tons of micro-managing, a focus on the irrelevant success metrics, lack of transparency across the board, a “big brother” like feeling everything you’re in the office, etc. Think of all the things you dislike about companies you’ve worked at in the past because Merge will have them. All this stems from the CEO and CTO. For instance, teams are asked to work well past 7 o’clock, sometimes even past 9 pm, every day. Merge offers a perk of free dinner if you work past 7pm, however, it’s an expectation to work past 7pm and attend dinner every day, a way to “get to know your coworkers better,” but it’s just a way to get their employees to work longer hours. Performance reviews are a joke, the executives clearly choose favorites and those they don’t favor are made very aware through backhanded comments, cold shoulders, and more. There are so many other negative things I could list that I won’t. If you’re reading this review, you might notice a small influx of positive reviews will be posted shortly after this one is live… the CEO's attempt to hide actual truthful reviews. What a shame.
