Pluspunten
The regular employees in the lab are kind, helpful, and communicate well. They get the job done. Additionally, the pay isn't too bad. This job is a decent stepping-stone to get the experience you need before moving on (escaping) to something better.
Minpunten
If I could give 0 stars, I would. As the headline states, management is horrible. Favoritism is extremely prevalent, and employees who don't "kiss butt" are treated with practically zero respect. In general, regular employees are treated like children and constantly micromanaged, even though they have proven that they're more than capable of doing their jobs. The supervisor loves to gossip, and will pit her employees on different shifts against each other simply to stir up drama. She is also best buddies with HR, so complaining about her behavior to HR will get you nowhere. Lab Assistants are treated as the "grunts" of the laboratory. Be prepared to be the scapegoat for literally everything. If anything goes wrong in the lab, it falls back on you. If another department makes a mistake, management comes to you with the questions instead of the people who actually made the error. And if turn-around-time is slow in another department, guess what? It will magically be the fault of the Lab Assistants. Management never runs out of ways to twist the blame. It's so ridiculous that it's honestly laughable. Night-shift will get away with so much more than day-shift. If the night crew clocks in and leaves for hours on end, not a word will be said to them. On the other hand, employees working during the day will be reprimanded if they clock in and take 30 seconds putting their belongings into their locker. The updated security cameras which were installed for safety purposes are constantly used to threaten the day-shift employees, as management enjoys telling us that "the cameras" catch us on our phones when we have no work to do. Those same cameras never seem to "catch" the night employees also on their phones, or sleeping. Funny how that works. The micromanagement, rudeness, favoritism, and pure incompetence displayed by the supervisor, manager, and director has driven many of the best employees to quit. Nobody is valued for their experience here, and going above and beyond is pointless. I would not recommend this job to anybody.
