At first, my manager was supportive and approachable, but over time their behaviour changed significantly. What was framed as "constructive feedback" increasingly felt like micromanagement, with overly critical comments and long messages over minor mistakes. It created a high-pressure environment that left me feeling anxious about going to work - which shouldn't be the case. While the company often says, "It’s PR, not ER," the reality can feel quite the opposite. The intense pressure and lack of empathy from some managers suggest a disconnect between the company’s values and day-to-day practices. Concerns about workload or wellbeing were often dismissed with the explanation that "it's just how start-ups are." Rather than offering support, the attitude seemed to be: if you can’t handle it, you’re replaceable. A more supportive approach and healthier culture would go a long way in retaining talent and truly living up to the company’s stated values.
