Pluspunten
Payscale has a genuinely supportive culture and people are thoughtful colleagues who care about doing good work. Leadership is also unusually transparent about the health of the business. The company shares a lot of detail about performance and strategy, which I appreciate. I very rarely work nights or weekends, which is something I really value and don’t take for granted in tech. There’s also relatively low turnover among ICs and managers. A lot of people have been here for years and have deep domain and institutional knowledge. Over the time I’ve been here, there have been some bumpier periods, particularly during leadership transitions. More recently the company feels more focused again, and leadership seems very data-driven and business-oriented.
Minpunten
Because the company is fully remote, it can sometimes feel siloed. It takes more effort to stay connected across teams. I also miss being able to bring teams together in person more regularly. Offsites and in-person time can really help build relationships and alignment, and I’d love to see more of that again. The low turnover is mostly a positive, but it can also mean we sometimes fall back on “how we’ve always done things” instead of experimenting with new approaches. Finally, like many companies right now, growth hasn’t been as fast as I’d ideally like. It’s always more energizing to work in a company that’s growing quickly (revenue and headcount), though a lot of that is tied to broader market conditions.
