Pluspunten

I've had a very positive experience working as a programmer at PPS during its early days (full-time 2003 - 2004; and part-time / research projects for a few years after that). The founder and everyone I've worked with are brilliant and highly competent people. I don't know what changed over the past decade, but at that time it was a very vibrant young start-up in a high-growth industry. I was able to work flexible hours / from home whenever possible.

Minpunten

None really. (At least not at the time when I worked there.) This is just my personal situation, but I found the work very stressful. After a couple of years I had to scale back my hours, and eventually left the industry. But I'm sure that this was not in any way due to PPS management.

Pluspunten

I have loved all my years working for PPS (now CBIZ PPS) and the incredible people I've met

Minpunten

Some issues of "cart before the horse". Small teams means big responsibility. Recent acquisition is rocking the ship.

Pluspunten

Pivot Point is the best company that I have ever worked for. Corporate culture, from the very top down, is excellent. The interview process can seem a bit labyrinthine, and it can take a while. Pivot Point itself is filled some of the smartest, and finest, people I have ever worked with, not just on the consulting side, but the operations and sales sides as well. Work is interesting and challenging, and often quite complex. Many clients are long-term clients with whom a consultant can build a relationship. Very fun and supportive environment. Very idea-oriented environment. If you have an idea? Management will listen and take it seriously. Very flexible work environment.

Minpunten

Monetary compensation is average for the (burgeoning) information security field. Schedules can be highly variable. Although they try to balance one's schedule, the nature of consulting means that in one month you can be traveling 50% of the time, and in the next none. Sometimes the workload and deadlines are such that you'll be up to 10 PM finishing that report. Compensating for this is that other days? If your workload allows it and you want to take the afternoon off? Nobody is going to say a word about it. Pivot Point is still a smaller organization that is experiencing some growing pains, but they manage it well.
