Saying that working at Plural has been a fantastic experience is an understatement. I could not have asked for a better team and better leadership. Plural Strategy is a sector focused consulting firm that is growing rapidly. The sectors that Plural specializes in are events, media, industrials and agriculture. Not only are you able to gain exposure to these different industries, but you are constantly working with different team members and learning from Plural’s sector experts. The structure is very flat so you are able to get day to day exposure to senior team members who are actively working with you and are readily available. You truly get to learn from the best. I worked in the NYC office, an extremely fast growing office under the supervision of Matthew Vellacott, a partner based in NYC. Matt made it a point to be extremely available to all employees and personally invest himself in their growth. This is a HUGE benefit to working with Plural as their management makes sure to strongly invest in their employees/talent. Even as an entry level employee, I worked on several projects with Matt as my direct supervisor where he was able to pass along his years of expertise in different sectors. Matt and David Freling from the NYC team were not only my supervisors, but became mentors in my professional development. As mentioned in almost every review, Plural has an AMAZING culture. The team is extremely close knit and the management makes sure to host team-building events a few times a month which range from annual company getaway trips (last two years have been in Spain) all the way to having a Plural band. It’s crucial to have a strong work culture in consulting and Plural really puts an emphasis on that. It’s no secret that Plural has some extremely talented and brilliant people. While working at Plural, I was able to learn so much in such a short amount of time from the industry’s bests. Although the interview process is challenging, the internships and job offers are well worth it. Plural does a phenomenal job of hiring top-tier talent and developing them to become industry experts. Not only that, but the management constantly pushes you outside of your comfort zones. An example of this is during my first month of working with Plural, I was asked to lead a field research work-stream by flying down to a trade show. That entire week I was prepped to be able to conduct these in-person interviews myself. I was pushed outside of my comfort level and was able to successfully lead this portion of the project. To give some insight on the work interns and analysts should expect, most of Plural’s projects are DDs and strategy reports. Interns and analysts will be involved in work-streams such as market sizing, competitive landscaping, spearheading interview programs, conducting desk research on market dynamics, etc. I’d recommend Plural to anyone who is serious about being a strategy consultant. Not only do you learn so much in such a short amount of time, but you become a part of an amazing team that brings out the best in you!
