Minpunten
Everyone has had at least one company they worked for that they would rather forget. It could be because of an incompetent supervisor. It could be because of terrible benefits. It could be because of inept owners or the indifferent attitude of the human resources department. Now, imagine you could combine all of these negative aspects into one. What would you have?- The utterly dysfunctional organization known as Premier Guard. Just how useless is Premier Guard? It’s difficult to appropriately describe all the negative qualities of this laughingstock of a business because there are so many of them but I will give it my best shot. The father and son owners are shockingly incompetent and ignorant; completely clueless about business, economics, finance, sales, human relations management, and basically everything else. They berate their employees right out in the open, where anyone can hear them. They refuse to recognize their own stupidity and how it has led the company to the brink of disaster. They constantly look for someone to scapegoat when something goes wrong, failing to see that their own ignorance is the obvious cause of the company’s endless list of problems. They don’t recognize that their own disgusting incompetence is the reason the employee turnover is so high. They are manipulative liars who continue to apply the same strategies, even when they have been proven not to work in the past. You might think that the human resource department would try to reign- in the obnoxiousness of the owners, but this is far from the case. The HR actually plays along with the insanity, doing nothing at all to get things under control and at least give the semblance of respect and order. I found it quite telling that the human resource person was in attendance at almost every meeting involving the owners and employees. This is not only abnormal, it really says a lot about the insanity at play in this organization. Why would you have an HR rep in meetings that have nothing to do with human resources? The reason should be obvious. Okay, so the place is completely dysfunctional, but what about the benefits? Sorry, you won’t find much here. Benefits are almost non- existent and are by far the worst I have ever had with any place I have worked. My career spans about 16 years and five different businesses, so this says a lot. The out of pocket expense for health insurance, for example, is so high it needs to be factored into your negotiated salary. And it is a lousy plan, covering only a small share of medical expenses. The employee at Premier Guard do not like or respect the business and its owners and there is constant small talk, among the employees, about the company and its endless flaws. The best thing these owners could do is to sell the business, then relocate someplace remote where they can live out the rest of their miserable lives in seclusion, far away from humanity. I don’t see any other hope for the business. You cannot fix stupidity at this extreme level. Leaving Premier Guard is like being awakened from a bad dream. You’re a little startled at first, but overall relieved and thrilled that the nightmare is over. Unfortunately, unlike a bad dream, the experience is real but it is one that you know you can put behind you while you work to educate others on the pitfalls of working for a company run by dysfunctional misfits and why it is so important to maintain your dignity and self- respect by turning around and walking away. No paycheck is worth being employed by a place such as this and I encourage anyone who works for company this useless to take the moral high road and leave as quickly as possible.
