Contracted for 7.5 hours a week on a Saturday starting at 10:30am supposedly finishing at 7:30, however still there at 9pm EVERY SINGLE WEEK, due to the shop being messy and lots of returns etc meaning that I had been working 10.5 hours in one day (then pressurised to be there for 9am next day) had no choice but to stay extra time after your shift and had to have an exceptionally good reason to go on time, when it has been hot we've not been allowed the air conditioning on once the customers had left the shop delaying the staff even more and even worse than that recently not allowed it on all day causing many customer complaints, when store manager approached about this by a supervisor she was rudely sworn at, you get constantly called over to tills and told off if you don't go (even if your dealing with a customer) and then you have to wait 10 mins for a supervisor just to void an item off the till as staff can't do anything apart or from press a few buttons e.g cash or cards and give change to customers. Managers tend to sit downstairs (where they are allowed the air conditioning on all day) and even when they are on the shop floor there just standing around on their phones the whole time. I've just handed in my notice after 2 years and have to say I can't wait to leave - they were bitter about giving me overtime when I actually wanted to work the odd 4 hours during the week after finishing college for the year, even saying that 'they don't know why they bother with me as as I'm leaving them' !!! Even though I had to give 2 weeks notice and gave 5 weeks.
