Minpunten
Pay is about the same as in a garage only you will be working on motorways at 9pm on a Sunday. Main competitor AA are paid a significant amount more than RAC patrols. Management seem to think the fact that we can work overtime to earn more justifies low pay. Dangerous job working on fast roads. Large amount of the patrol force are fed up of management not listening, makes for a depressing work environment. Very difficult to get time off approved. The shockingly poor service means that we will attend people that have been waiting hours at roadside (sometimes in dangerous locations) and get abused or complained at by the member. In the van on your own can get boring/lonely. Not offering as much overtime as they used to so struggle to earn more money. Any change to the process of how we work is not communicated they will make up a new process without telling us and expect us to know how it works. When a patrol is given a job the information provided is often very poor or wrong. No balance between work and social life, constantly working a block of days and given a single rest day to come back and do another block of days.
