Pluspunten
In my 4+ years at Slice I've seen tremendous growth in the company, including going through an acquisition, and have also grown so much as an individual. This growth is due to the care and investment we make in each other. This is felt from the top executives all the way down to individual contributors. The best way I can illustrate this is that when people do eventually leave the Slice family, it is always met with support and gratitude. Our culture is open and comfortable, and we give honest feedback to each other regularly. We are a very diverse team and we value each other's perspectives. And we have a healthy respect for work/life balance, which has made my time here very sustainable. Beyond that, I value the intelligence and passion of the people who work here. We are solving some extremely challenging problems in a very unique space. It's really incredible to see how teams with differing expertise can come together and make awesome products. This is a great growth opportunity and we are always learning from each other. Finally, I really appreciate our customer-first mentality. Whether it be users of our apps, or our clients using our data, we’re constantly working to improve their experience and innovate. We value our user’s feedback and don’t cut corners when it comes to protecting their data.
Minpunten
It's hard to criticize Slice due to the impact it's made on my career and life. But every team has some dysfunction. Some of the struggles we face are due to the fact we have two offices, one in the Bay Area, and one Odessa, Ukraine. This has presented communication and coordination challenges. That being said, I've been impressed with the way we've been able to unify the teams, and truly value the contributions and perspective of our team abroad. Another issue we've faced is paying off some deep technical debt, and pushing past status quo style thinking. We could do a better job of embracing newer technologies and being willing to move quickly and break things. This is something we're aware of and we've made strides in this direction.
