Pluspunten

They are a small company the founders started in college. If you do good work you can grow and progress. Everyone is pretty cool and no egos to get in the way. No one stays late or. works weekends. They seem to hate that on a company level. Management gives you as much freedom as you want and doesn't look over your shoulder. The developers are all pretty smart and dedicated, with a few exceptions. The benefits are pretty good and so is the time off. You can work remote as much as you want even if it becomes disruptive.

Minpunten

The pay isn't up to industry standards. They will let people who have no experience as a project manager manage projects and the results reflect that. There are almost no processes in place and everyone codes however they like. Switching onto a project takes much longer than it should and you often have to spend a lot of time just figuring out what the other guy did. This happens a lot more than it should. Project assignments get shuffled more times than a deck of cards. There are no repercussions for those who do bad work or go over budget.

Great team of knowledgeable people who respect one another and work together collaboratively to produce high quality products. Great work/life balance with flexible schedules. Spectacular company culture.

Minpunten

It would be nice if they paid for a higher percentage of our health benefits, but it’s still very reasonable

Pluspunten

The 18+ mix of developers, business development staff and project managers are genuinely nice. There are relatively few egos here, even though some of the more senior developers have years and years of experience. Work/life balance is great and there is some flexibility around working remotely. Also, every blue moon a cool project comes around.

Minpunten

The two founders started the company out of college, so is there little in the way of structure or supervised management. There are few repercussions for those who routinely screw up or don't pull their weight. Mediocre work is permitted all too often. The two founders seesaw between being too big picture or too controlling. Priorities can change by the week, and there can be a lot of pulling people on and off a project at a moment's notice, leading to wasted time and resources. Questions of budget also take precedence over the quality of the work, leading to unhappy clients. Developers are either very junior or very senior. There's little in the way of growth if you are somewhere in the middle.
