It’s usually two steps forward, one step back. You’ll see some progress be made or it might seem like feedback was heard and then things often get worse again before getting better.
There are so many smart, hardworking people at Relativity. Really some of the best in the industry. But the company continues to promote and keep people who don’t pull their own. Everyone knows who they are (except upper management seems blind to it) and nothing is done about it. This is the weirdest thing here. In the last year we have lost so many talented, commited and tenured people because of it. I used to think this was isolated to certain teams, but once you interact with HR you will realize that these types of problems exist at the core. As other posts have said, some of the most unprofessional and frustrating encounters I’ve had in my career have been with leaders on this team.
With our quick growth, some teams have expanded to almost comical size while others are still struggling for resources. HR and Security seem to constantly be adding roles while teams like IT and Legal seem horribly understaffed for the new quantity of work they have to do.
Ultimately, like a lot of places, your experience is going to be based on who you work with each day. If you have a solid manager and are on an insular engineering team, you’re going to have a really great experience. If you have a weak manager or have to interact with underperforming teams, you’re going to waste a lot of your time doing other peoples work and being frustrated.
