Working at Roc Nation was the single worst professional experience of my career. What once may have been an aspirational brand has devolved into a chaotic, toxic, and unsustainable mess that should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone considering employment here. The disorganization starts at the top and seeps into every layer of the company. Longterm employees and leadership are among the most toxic, clinging to outdated, harmful mentalities that glorify burnout dismiss boundaries, and demand total availability including nights, weekends, holidays, and PTO (expect a “25/8” work week). There's no respect for work-life balance or basic human decency. To top it off this is something they are proud of and will openly discuss in your interview. You are micromanaged to the point of paranoia. Despite a post-pandemic world where flexible work is the norm, Roc Nation enforces a rigid 5 day in office policy with zero empathy, even in the face of medical needs. Yet, they still expect you to be on call after hours. Your phone will ring nonstop until you answer, it doesn’t matter if you’re on vacation or at a funeral. Expect bullying, discrimination, and being spoken about like you're invisible. I witnessed direct management engage in unethical and borderline illegal behavior from misusing company funds under the guise of artist needs, to accepting inappropriate gifts from clients, to disappearing from work while claiming to be "with talent." These are people who weaponize their titles while abusing the system, and HR is either complicit or powerless. Nepotism is alive and well. Leadership is littered with relatives and friends, many of whom are wildly unqualified. Roles are filled based on who you know, not what you bring to the table. If you've ever worked at a reputable label or company, prepare for the complete absence of structure, systems, or any SOPs. You’ll spend more time trying to navigate dysfunction than doing actual work. Turnover is a revolving door. Most employees last less than a year and those who stay are actively interviewing or mentally checked out. The company trades on a name that no longer holds weight in the industry. The handful of exciting high-profile clients are managed by a few capable individuals, while the rest languish in obscurity due to incompetence and disarray. Toxic doesn't even begin to describe it. The environment is saturated with manipulation, backstabbing, and fear. People smile to your face and sabotage behind your back. There is zero trust, zero transparency, and zero sense of team. Morale is nonexistent, and it’s not uncommon to see employees openly crying in meeting rooms. This is not a company, it's a cautionary tale. If you care at all about your mental health, professional development, or integrity, run. Do not be fooled by the brand name. Roc Nation is a hollow shell of what it once was. Any time spent here will only serve to damage your resume, your self-worth, and your sanity.
