The two best reasons to work at SPI Lasers are: 1) The freedom to step and take responsibility for your own actions / dept. SPI tries to employ proactive people who will help lead and develop the company. If you want massive progression opportunities go and work for someone who employs '000's of people. You will have the progression but I would suggest you will also have massive amounts of procedure and red-tape that will stifle innovation.

SPI Lasers gave me a lot of freedom in the course of my three internships. I was assigned tasks but could carry them out in whichever way I saw fit. In the process, I learnt a great deal about programming and laser physics. My colleagues were very helpful.

Though I enjoyed the freedom I was given, sometimes more direction could have been useful -- my tasks were not always completely clear.
