- Office locations are downtown and the office space is neatly designed. - Lots of smart people work here, you can learn a lot about software development or design at Shopify. - Compassionate and supportive work environment that stimulates individual growth - There are some people who work hard, but they are few in number. - Top salary and benefits if you are fulltime. Catered lunches, snacks 24/7, yoga and meditation classes.

Minpunten

- Might be interesting checking the "Rating Trends" call to action at the top to see the low rating trend for the last few years. - Mid-level leadership is pretty inexperienced. Unfortunately, lots of leads hide behind the "empowering employees to take ownership" idea to hide their lack of skills. Lots of people leads don't quite have the people skills to do that. It might be a symptom of fast growth. - Every team is different. If you end up on the wrong team, life can be really tough. - Sometimes is hard to do things because you don't know if your lead or your co-workers are WFH or they're on vacation. No one cares that much about the project they're working on.

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Minpunten

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

- Product management discipline is quite lacking since the new CTO joined - Microsoft culture is adding more chaos and stress, and causing projects to actually go slower - Managers are afraid to tell the truth to Mikhail about the loopholes in engineering; they just want to look good, so they rush their teams to ship crap - Top engineering leaders are moving out of management roles or leaving the company - Tobi used to be far more involved in ensuring a high engineering bar, but seems to have handed over the reins to the new Microsoft regime
