The greatest part of SS is truly that you get create your own schedule. As a musician I only have a certain amount of time I can dedicate to babysitting while also trying to pursue my craft. I hand in my available hours each week and I know I'll only be booked during that period of time. They also send what they call "Can Yous" or bookings that aren't in your time slot that you can accept or decline. HQ is always understanding if you decline these. They also work really hard to get you covered if you're sick or have a last minute audition or rehearsal (called an "Art Out"). I also like the uniqueness of being able to incorporate music and art into my job. Another significant pro to this company is them providing you with consistent bookings. As a private sitter I didn't always know when my next paycheck would be but with SS I know I can have a consistent paycheck (it's direct deposit which is also great). If your booking gets canceled and it's less than 4 hrs they make sure you get rebooked and you also make what you would have with the family that canceled. What's also cool is they let you use their office space and supplies if you need it. I've printed so much music at HQ and even studied for a few tests there.

They pay starts on the lower side (but they do offer things that help you get a raise). There is really no room to grow within the company or other opportunities outside of babysitting services. Sometimes you have to sit for a not so nice family - although if you tell HQ you don't want to be paired with them again they'll take it into consideration while sending you bookings.

Benefits of setting availability schedule is a super plus,

Appointments often made within 24 or 48 hours notice. If you list yourself as "available" you HAVE to work or you'll get a demerit, and after 3 you're fired. Very strict policies regarding cancelling a "booking". You will run into some truly crazy New York parents. A friend of me had a baby gate thrown at her by a client.
