Pluspunten
Salaries are generally good, 401K is excellent - 100% match for first 3% and 50% on the next 3% of employee contributions, profit sharing, flexible work timings, generally stable employment, Sony historically has not been a company that lays off people at the drop of a hat, in a manner of speaking, although that has been changing in recent times.
Minpunten
Work is remote controlled from Tokyo, little to no autonomy for the US operation, so decisions take a long time to be made. Sometimes there is not enough transparency as to who is in control, and who is the real decision maker. Work efficiency sometimes suffers due to too many people involved in decision making, and the afore-mentioned lack of transparency of decision making. Staying back in office for late night video/telephone conference meetings with Tokyo teams had been the norm rather than the exception, due to the time zone difference. Lately the medical benefits, bonuses and profit sharing have been poor, whereas in Sony's heyday they had been truly spectacular.
