Pluspunten
It's a really good place for people who need benefits, retirement savings options, and the opportunity for growth, but who do not have the formal education that many other companies require. It takes a lot of work, and sometimes a very, very, long time, but you can work your way up to higher levels of management (and financial security) without a degree.
Minpunten
1. You are on your feet ALL DAY. 2. Pay at lower levels is not very good. Though starting pay is competitive and raises are promised every 6 months, I (who perform very well on my 6 month reviews) make only 11.36 per hour after nearly 6 years with the company-- including the raise I received with my promotion. the company's pay structure is set up in such a way that, thanks to "cost of living" adjustments based on current pay rate, I, as a shift supervisor who has been with the company in high volume stores for nearly six years, make only $2.35 per hour more than a cafe attendant who has been with the company for less than a year. ( cafe attendant is a position available in some high volume stores - it is reserved for special needs individuals.). While I think the cafe attendant position is a wonderful way to give special needs individuals a chance to work, the knowledge that my level of responsibility and experience is worth hardly more than this charitable position is disgruntling. No matter how good the benefits are, I can not be satisfied with a position that would have me living with my parents even if I worked full time. 3. In addition, management is inconsistent from store to store, and, though I am happy under my current management, I have spent much of my time with this company working for managers that I felt were incompetent and under-educated for the positions they held.
