Unprofessional is an understatement, purposefully capricious and wilfully malicious is a more accurate way of describing how Head office operates. You may be tempted to apply for a job here because they pay slightly above minimum wage, I urge you to reconsider, or you will find yourself run ragged, a target of bullying, and altogether utterly demoralised by the piss-poor standards of professionalism in this company. To give some context, this company is headed by a cabal of 4 men, none of which have any inkling of how to manage, communicate, or give constructive feedback. Their sole purpose is to turn up at one of the few stores that hasn't shut due to liquidation and essentially berate store management over the standards of the store, this would be fair if the stores were anywhere near as bad as head office thinks. Typically this will be carried out by a cockney cretin who is more interested in making TikTok lipsync videos than acting his wage. They employ a method of extreme negative reinforcement to eke out every penny they can to line their pockets with. How negative? Head office actively encourages store management to be aggressive and scream in the faces of their staff. They are so afraid of litigation from sacking people that instead they will choose to needle and bully the offending staff member until they have a mental breakdown and hand in their notice. What is the offence? Usually for not being a yes man and having ideas of their own, and sometimes for no reason at all; head office is convinced that they and only they know best (hilarious, since the company is collapsing). 'Rebellious' store management will usually find themselves forcibly relocated to the punishment store (Moss Side, occurred thrice in my tenure) where they hope the isolation from the team they built a rapport around will break their spirit and force them to leave, it's pathetic schoolyard behaviour from pathetic schoolyard boys. To give an example of the absolute immorality of head office, they currently employ a store manager who was forced to leave his previous 'job' in disgrace after being outed as abusive and sexually assaulting multiple people. This does not matter to them, they may even laud it. The company owner, Mital, has carefully constructed a public personality over the years; the son of immigrants, following in their footsteps to build an empire of his own. He presents himself as mild-mannered, trendy, and a pillar of the community. The complete opposite is true, he is utterly incompetent (again, the company is in liquidation), and a nasty piece of work who has been witnessed in public abusing service staff, as well as cutting deeply into store management for perceived offenses (usually suggesting he's wrong about something). This mask is so well constructed that even the media outlets of Manchester think he's a cool owner of hipster grocery stores, this is not true. At the store level things aren't much better, with such corrupt leadership there is a company wide problem with gossip, cancel culture, and abject laziness, because of course there is no HR department to deal with it. You will find yourself doing the lion's share of the work while other staff members chat amongst themselves about inane facets of their boring lives, or you'll find yourselves giving up and joining in with them. It is important to note that this company changes names as quickly as it changes staff, here it is called Store-Group, but it is currently called CG People (General Store), like a snake shedding its skin, this will change again. So to sum up: -No benefits -Average pay -Evil, hateful behaviour from head office -No HR department -No payroll department -They will pay you incorrectly and screw up your tax calculations -Abuse is encouraged -No responsibility is taken for mistakes -Whatever it is, it's always your fault Avoid at all costs.

Incredibly poor upper management that runs on breaking their young staff down, making them feel terrible at their jobs and working them into the ground. Consistently understaffed, great site managers pushed and pushed until they inevitably leave. Long hours worked with little/no benefits, bullying from upper management runs this company. Constant uncertainty on security of jobs, stores closing leaving low paid workers thinking they're losing jobs, enormous negativity within sites which drives staff out the door, proven by the hugely high turnover of staff both general assistants and managers. Non existent HR, one person "in charge" of HR when realistically they have zero people skills and zero knowledge of HR procedures. Feels like they just want all their staff to leave for the most petty reasons. Terrible company, terrible job, no morals at all, don't even bother. Wish I could rate 0 stars tbh
