Pluspunten

There are only 2 pros that i can think of: schedule flexibility and some days are excellent pay. But that is where the pros end.

Minpunten

This is tough to summarize, and i will try to keep it as short as possible. But the cons are: 1-TSL is a family owned company (used to think that was good). But being family owned means all the management positions are filled by family and friends of the owner. Good luck if you have a valid complaint against the way things are done. 2-Pay system for drivers is almost like a socialist program. Meaning no matter how hard and long you work, you will not see any benefit from it. There are numerous drivers who work 60-70 hours with the idea that they will make a substantially larger paycheck then someone who only works 40. Not the case, dispatch will only hamstring you and give the better work to the underachiever in order to "even it out". 3-TSL has an incredibly complicated pay system. And it used to be pretty decent, until those in management figure out ways to pay less to drivers from it. I will give one example: when a load is pulled out of the rail, the driver earns mileage pay and a ramp pay for the move. Combined it comes out to be a fair wage when all is said and done. But where management came in and chose to be more profitable (im guessing for the sake of a hefty bonus), is that TSL also owns a lot across the street from the Union Pacific ramp. So they hired a shag driver to go into the rail and pull loads across the street to the company lot. They will tell you that it is due to storage issues and avoiding fees. But it also eliminates on avg half of the pay for the driver bc the driver no longer receives the ramp pay when taking a load out of a company lot (but mind you, its the same miles for the run). The lot across the street used to also be used for dropping and picking up bare chassis'. And was handy to just grab a chassis from this lot and go across the street to have a box put onto it at the UP (saved a driver up to 45mins). But now, remember that shag driver? The shag driver now takes all the avail equipment at the lot and goes to the UP and grabs the box for you and drops at the company lot. Again you miss out on ramp pay, and another pay known as lift pay (for having a box lifted onto your bare chassis). Why? Bc the shag driver already took care of it for you. So if/when your talking to a recruiter about possibly filling out an application, make no mistake that they will show you best case scenario (with all the extra pays). In reality, they find ways to avoid paying you those extra pays that make the job worth it. After you get the hang of the job and find shortcuts, you will easily max out the pay that you will earn for the rest of your career there. Of course that is also under the assumption that management doesnt just find more creative ways to short change you. If you are able to talk to a TSL driver, there is a very good chance they will tell you that their pay only steadily drops. There are few that are actually satisfied with their employment at TSL as a driver. Hope this helps. In the end, I would not recommend this company!
