Pluspunten

First of all I think it’s important to note that I chose to leave TWG and was not let go because I couldn’t sell. Unlike what the positive reviews insist, the incredibly high turnover is not because individuals can’t sell or don't want to work, but because they were led to believe that the work environment and expectations would be much different than what they find when they arrive. As a new agent I was one of the fastest to reach the “commissionable” mark and hit my monthly goals much more often than most. I’ve read all of the reviews listed here and the ones that are neutral are much more honest in their critiques. I find it very interesting that the positive reviews are completely unoriginal or personal in any way. The positive reviews use the exact same language the company teaches you to use. Pros 1. The sharp, young, energetic people you work with are a bit part of their appeal and recruiting process. There are a lot of smart individuals within the organization and I would have left a lot sooner had the social aspect not been so engaging. 2. Management is very intelligent and competent. The CEO, Mark Jones, is a former Senior Partner at Bain and also recruited for them. He uses his status and experience to attract top talent from top schools around the country. 3. Dallas/Fort Worth is a great place to live. The cost of living is very low, especially considering the quality of the schools and communities.

Minpunten

1. These same sharp, talented employees are the ones who recruit you and “sell” you on the career opportunity. They made sure I was enamored with the prospect of working with someone of Mark Jones’ caliber and was also told to expect an IPO, mergers, acquisitions, none of which did or will happen. The picture the recruiters paint is much different than the reality of life in the ranks of a call center. 2. Management is too smart for their own good. They are incredibly arrogant and truly think that they are the only intelligent individuals in the entire insurance industry. They think that their intelligence alone will allow them to, in their own words: “take over the world.” This arrogance is a big reason why their turnover is around 90%. It’s why they will never be able to admit that their recruiting practices are dishonest and misleading and why their turnover will remain consistently high. This intellectual arrogance is why they haven’t and won’t create an IPO and will never be interested in a merger or acquisition. 3. As affordable and nice as it is to live in the DFW area, the salary and compensation structure is laughable. They’re looking for mindless pawns who are so enamored with management that they are willing to shut out all their creative ambition to Smile & Dial for 10 hours a day. It’s true that management positions and promotions are meaningless. There is no increase in pay; they expect you to maintain the same level of personal production/sales while taking on additional responsibilities like recruiting, etc. Directors make very good money, but there is no longer room within the organization for additional Directors. 4. You will not gain any training, expertise, or skills that will assist or enable you to advance in any other company or industry. The only possible way this work experience could be considered viable resume experience is if you were in the circles that cared about the fact that you worked with someone like Mark Jones (and those circles are quickly getting smaller and smaller every day). 5. You have no ownership in your book of business, your clients are not yours, and for the last 5 years they have been dangling the carrot of creating a private plan that would be similar to stock options for employees, but like the myth of the mergers, acquisitions, and IPO, that will also never happen.
