My experience is that it takes a lot more than competitive compensation to retain employees in the Bay Area. We are proud of the fact that we experience relatively low turnover amongst our newer hires, and as cited by the reviewer, by those who have stayed and want to “do it again” by building another highly valued information technology company. I also agree with the reviewer that being a good manager of people takes on-going investment in skill training, use of new management tools, and so forth. It’s important for our diversified leadership team to listen to the input of all staff, whether it be through ongoing anonymous employee surveys, career path planning sessions, brown bag lunches, or annual performance reviews. We are constantly striving to employ best in class tools and the latest technology methods where applicable. We are competing in a hot industry and so ALL of our decisions have to be and are performance data driven. Being data-driven is a requirement for success in this day and age.
