If you are unethical or stupid, they will likely promote you.
Minpunten
Extreme lack of business ethics, especially with regard to hiring and promotion practices. I read a comment on here where someone said that you need to be a "traditional white male" to succeed. I think the exact opposite, especially after working under the most militant man hating regime of a Quality department for a few years. The VP does not like men and will only keep the few who do her bidding. The entire department is full of lackluster senior managers, who have no subject matter expertise whatsoever and they avoid serious food quality and safety recommendations from junior reports...Why? They do it, so that they can scapegoat their junior reports, every time there is a sticky situation or recall situation. It is astounding that they still have their jobs. It is even more astounding how the friends of the VP receive lightning fast (and multiple) promotions, sometimes within one year. Everyone knows in advance who the favorites are and sits back and watches the promotion show. They are so inept that it defies description. Multiple men have left the department, only to have their careers skyrocket elsewhere. It is disgusting how HR looks the other way after each successive exit interview turns up the same garbage. Promotion practices across the company should be investigated by any significant shareholders. These promotion practices are one of the real reasons for the company's financial losses.
