Pluspunten

The best thing about the job is being able to build relationships and advocate for members.

Minpunten

Where do I began? Leadership will make you believe this is the best place to work. Just give it time, soon you will realize this is the worst place to work. Do not believe the "Thresholds Best & Brightest Company to Work For" report. The report was obviously fictitious and altered. I have never experienced such inefficient leadership. The leadership at this organization is very unprofessional. They gossip about employees and form cliques. Morale is extremely low among employees. The pay is horribly low, not enough to raise/feed a family. However, employees are required to have a bachelors or masters degree to become employed. Factories and warehouse workers get paid more money without a degree. Thresholds has a recurrence of bedbug infestation in their residential homes and facilities. However, employees are forced to transport these individuals in their personal vehicles. Thresholds has had to send pest control to employee homes for treatments. Let's not discuss the high miles, wear and tear on your vehicle. The best part about the job is being able to advocate and build relationships with some of the members. However, many of the members you service live in high crime neighborhoods. You are required to bill medicaid for services that may not have been rendered or get written up for productivity. Employees are told to be creative (unethical !!!) to reach productivity goals set by the agency. My job entailed finding jobs for members who have mental illnesses and drug addictions. Unfortunately, you are held accountable for members not becoming employed when they realistically have multiple barriers. How do you find a job for individuals who are non adherence to medical treatment, have drug addictions, mental illnesses and do not want to engage??? However, when you job develop (seeking out employers), you lie and tell them you have the best person for the job just to reach your goals. Once a member is hired, you have to practice job retention (helping the member keep the job). The job, you knew the member would not keep due to their many barriers. The goals are very unrealistic. Thresholds do not care about their employees or members. They care about one thing, REVENUE!!! They are the biggest not-for-profit, for profit agency in the industry.

Pluspunten

Thresholds provides excellent opportunities to learn and develop clinical skills. You work with a wide variety of individuals and situations, especially people experiencing psychotic symptoms, which creates a strong learning environment for new social workers, interns, and behavioral health professionals. The work itself is meaningful. Helping people feel heard, supported, and connected to solutions is rewarding, and there are many opportunities to gain experience with different populations and mental health conditions. Benefits are generally good, including PTO, sick time, and insurance. Many coworkers are supportive, and concerns are usually heard when raised. Some managers are also genuinely down-to-earth people who do their best to protect staff from poor decisions coming from higher levels of the organization.

Minpunten

The biggest issue is the corporate culture within upper management. There are too many layers of management, and it often feels like metrics, numbers, and organizational goals are prioritized over client outcomes and worker sustainability. This can contribute to burnout and can make employees feel like they are being managed as metrics rather than as professionals. Management quality varies significantly. Some supervisors treat employees like human beings and advocate for them, while others seem heavily invested in corporate structures and protocols. Mistakes are sometimes handled appropriately and supportively, but consequences can also feel inconsistent depending on leadership. Pay fairness also varies considerably by position. Some roles are compensated appropriately, while others are not. It is difficult not to notice how much organizational resources appear to be concentrated at upper management levels.
