New employee orientation just doesn't exist, you're dropped into a project or on a team and expected to have solutions immediately without having seen systems or met people. New employees are met with suspicion by existing employees who survived several recent massive layoffs. Timken expects you to work above and beyond 40 hours and weekends without compensation, currently all employees are to work one furlough day (no pay at all) each month. Timken has not adapted to telecommuting and does not promote/encourage it.
