Pluspunten

My experience working at Total Fire Protection has been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. After a long career in a very large corporation, it was a welcome relief to work at TFP and find that I am viewed as a person, that is appreciated for my contributions, as opposed to being viewed as just a number. Also, the Total Fire Protection staff is hardworking & friendly and the environment is very warm. The workload is substantial but rewarding if you enjoy a fast-paced job that is multi-faceted and exciting. Total Fire Protection is a family owned business and works with many charities, such as St. Jude’s Children’s Fund. In my book, that makes TFP very special.

Minpunten

The company is growing at a very fast pace so it needs to provide more advanced programs or software to address their growing business objectives.

Pluspunten

The benefits are alright. No micromanagement, everyone seems to work at their own pace. Steady work. 40-45 hour work weeks.

Minpunten

Not generous with the PTO. I have a disability where I am not able to drive some days (maybe 1-2 time a month) and have requested to work remotely those days as I am still able to perform. You must request a day in advance to work remotely which may or may not be denied, and since I cannot tell whether I am able to drive until the day of, I was forced to use my PTO. We are given 15 days, and the PTO does not transfer over to the next year. I feel as if everyone fends for themselves, meaning, I have no clue what the person next to me does. We work in relatively small teams, and each team player has a completely different job assignment. I am not able to perform my coworker's job, and they are not able to do mine. I keep trying to learn in case they are absent, however, they almost seem to guard their work. This makes working as a team incredibly difficult. As a growing company, TFP still has some kinks to work out. I give credit to management for trying to improve, but the methods just aren't working. Also, I wasn't allowed to go into the field? My title is APM, it is my responsibility to help the PM and this includes viewing projects in-person. It's all office work, which for me, is a no.
