Burnout is rampant—expect 60+ hour weeks disguised as "team spirit," threats over 'who done it' issues, and a vibe where speaking up gets you labeled the problem. I even saw a direct report under my supervision pushed to the brink by the unrelenting pressure, to the point where stress-related vision loss became a real issue—he had to seek medical help just to keep functioning. Personally, the constant tension manifested in my own body too; I ended up chipping a molar from grinding my teeth through endless high-stakes crises that no one else seemed to own. It's not just toxic; it's hazardous to your well-being, with stress levels that spill into personal life and physical health crises like dental damage or worse. If you're early in your career, this could scar you for years.
