4yI have worked for Hadleigh for a while now. He’s passionate and his motivation comes from watching people grow and creating software that creates positive impact customers.
ezyVet is used by veterinary professionals all around the globe and is critical to ensuring high standard of care for animals of all shapes and sizes, from cats to horses and even some exotic pets. It started development in 2007 so there are parts of the system still around since then, but outstanding to have code still scaling well that is 14 years old don’t you think? We invest heavily in continued technical improvement, with the recent modernisation effort to rebuild our financial module taking it from monolith to back end (Laravel API) & front end (ReactJS). Throughout this process we took the opportunity to modularize our code to prepare for the next stage - microservices. It's been many years since Hadleigh has been involved in the sales process, still a passionate product guy that knows a huge amount about the software he built a company around though.
I'm sorry to hear you feel this way about the work life balance, but I'm not sure it's an accurate view of ezyVet Engineering; it’s something we celebrate in engineering. We have engineers in Auckland and London to ensure we have technical resource on hand, on time zone, 24/7. We have an on-call roster in place to provide technical support 24/7 which rotates, and we pay our team members for this.
It's unfortunate to hear your perspective on our recruitment approach. I see this as a positive thing for the Auckland tech sector to hire talent into the industry, help them into their first role, and then see them grow through our organisation. We hire individuals with the right attitude, that have a growth mindset and are passionate about technology. What this has resulted in is a group of very passionate individuals pushing hard to get ahead in life.
Engineering salary bandings are reviewed regularly. We’ve done two reviews in the last year and are confident that we are market competitive. On top of this every employee is entitled to a yearly bonus which is on top of their market competitive salary.
