      Sollicitatiegesprek

I applied in late August after meeting one of the neurophysiologists. I do not have science background but have taken biology, microbio, chemistry, etc for pre reqs while in undergrad. I have a masters degree. The field interested me and I've always thought about going into the medical field and it just seemed like this opportunity popped up at the right moment as I'm between jobs. I received a phone call from one of their recruiters who asked me to tell him about my education, etc. He walked me through the process of the interviews and set me up with my first interviewer in the company. I spoke with him for a good 40 minutes about my education, what the job would entail, the different schedules, where I could possibly be assigned etc. I left the first two interviews feeling overall pretty happy with the process and interested in the field. My third interview with the person who would make the final decision was a completely different ball game. First, my interview was scheduled for one time but after 45 minutes of no phone call I decided to lay down since clearly this wasn't happening today. About 15 minutes later I get a phone call from him saying he had written down the wrong time. Immediately by his tone I knew this interview was going to be bad. The way he asked me to explain how I heard about the company, what my education was, I could HEAR the disinterest in his voice. I was frazzled at this point and when he asked me to explain what IONM (Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring ) was I completely flubbed the question (even though I had been reading about it for the past 2 weeks and explained it GREAT when speaking to my 2nd person). He asked me what my college GPA was and then pretty much ended the interview. It took 8 minutes. I had internship interviews that lasted longer. It was clear from the moment I picked up that phone that I would not be hired. I'm frustrated that I even went through the process. They did explain that it is highly competitive but why even put me (and their company!) through the interview process if it was CLEAR the third interviewr (who I was told makes the final hiring decision) did not want me part of the program. I would give the process a thumbs down but my recruiter and the 2nd interviewer were awesome and they are their companies saving grace right now.
