      Harley Merrell is a medical assistant at the IU Health Simon Cancer Center multidisciplinary outpatient clinic. "I really can't imaging doing anything else with my life [outside of working in healthcare]. Getting to interact with and help these patients is so rewarding," said Harley.       Ana Reeves is a new nurse on Methodist Hospital's surgical trauma unit. She started on the unit about three years ago as a patient care assistant and decided to stay on to begin her nursing career. "I love nursing. When you have patients for multiple shifts and you walk into that patient's room in the morning and you see their face light up because they recognize their nurse and they trust their nurse and you built that rapport... it's an amazing feeling to be able to be that person for somebody."       At IU Health Methodist Hospital, nursing runs deep for Karren Moore-Brewer and her daughter, Breyonna. Karren has worked as a nurse for close to four decades. Inspired by her mom’s compassion and strengthened by her own journey as a heart‑transplant patient, Breyonna found her calling at the bedside as well.       After starting as a travel nurse, Janelle Griffin chose to make IU Health West Hospital her long-term career home. Janelle Griffin, registered nurse, began her journey at IU Health West Hospital as a travel nurse. Travel nurses take on temporary assignments across the country, helping hospitals meet patient care needs wherever they arise. After spending nine months in the IU Health West 3B Medical-Surgical unit, Griffin realized she didn’t want to leave. “I had a good experience, and I moved to the west side to look for a place to plant my roots in. So, it is nice to come back and be an actual team member, to feel like you belong somewhere and to feel like you're a part of something,” Griffin explains.
