A few weeks ago, MCM Volunteers from Troy, accompanied by friends and family, visited the Forgotten Harvest Farm in Fenton. Their dedicated efforts involved meticulously weeding the watermelon patch, creating space for the fruit to thrive. Additionally, they harvested an impressive 7,950 pounds of zucchini. The zucchini was then distributed to local food banks through the Farm’s distribution center. This generous contribution translated into over 8,000 meals for the communities in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne County, Michigan. Speaking about their wonderful experience, two of our volunteers, Amber S and Melissa B, shared, “We had a fun and meaningful experience working side-by-side with our co-workers to harvest zucchini and tend to the watermelon crops at the Forgotten Harvest Farm. We really connected by helping to provide families in need with fresh and nutritious food free of charge. We truly felt like we were making a difference and look forward to our next opportunity to volunteer.” Our volunteer efforts were even covered by a local news channel. Click below to view the story.
