The intersection of AI and healthcare may seem broad, but what about the potential to help address health issues, at scale? Or the potential risks to patient safety and privacy? Omada Health’s Chief Privacy and Regulatory Officer Lucia Savage thinks about it all. To better understand the past, present and future of AI’s impact on healthcare, we enlisted Lucia, who formerly served as Chief Privacy Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. Lucia took some time to answer pertinent questions about how we arrived at this moment in time where AI tools are becoming more ever present in healthcare, the industry-wide and population health implications, and what the future might hold. Thank you to Omadans Nancy Vitale, Lisa McCormick, FNP-BC, RD, CDCES, and Sean Duffy for leading the discussion!
Some believe that quality and safety standards for virtual care have yet to be created, let alone widely adopted. Omada takes a different approach. We believe that virtual care can and should stand up to existing accreditation, quality, and safety frameworks, such as the NCQA or the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists.
