Meet Tangela Kenan, Human Resources Benefits Specialist. The Sunstates corporate HR team welcomed Tangela in November 2023. She brings many years of experience in varying roles to support her duties in her new position. Her experience in benefits administration, project management, HR information systems, and employee benefits design made her the perfect fit for this role. Before joining Sunstates, Tangela worked as a Global HR Manager for a non-profit in Raleigh. There, her responsibilities comprised of ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and reviewing and modifying policies to maintain compliance. Prior, Tangela worked for over seven years as a Benefits Manager for the state. She recommended benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements, trends, and developments, as well as managing the benefits staff by coaching, counseling, and mentoring employees. Tangela is a servant leader with a high ethical compass who consistently leads by example. Awesome job to Site Manager Pam Bennett of the New York region who responded to a protest in which more than 20 people blocked the only entrance road to the facility. The demonstration caused access-control issues for employees, contractors and delivery personnel. During the event, Pam served as the liaison between the police department and management. She kept leadership informed of what was happening while watching for any additional risks to the facility. Pam maintained the facility in a business-as-usual state throughout the protest event. Meet Eric McKaig, Operations Manager for the Charlotte Region. Eric joined the Sunstates Security team in May 2023 as a Site Supervisor and was quickly promoted to Operations Manager in December of the same year. He comes to us with a vast background, including 15 years of law enforcement, ten years of military, and 10+ years of property management experience. Beginning his career as a Communications Specialist in the US Air Force and then the SC National Guard, he later transitioned to law enforcement. His law enforcement positions included five years working in Vice/Narcotics, and three years assigned to the DEA. Most recently, Eric worked in the private sector as a property manager for high-end gated communities while working as a Security Officer. The combination of Eric’s military/law enforcement background with his hands-on experience in property management provides him with unique insight into the needs of many of our clientele. He is a great addition to the Charlotte, NC team.
