During pregnancy and after childbirth—together known as the perinatal period—physical health usually takes center stage. Mental health, however, is often neglected, even though it is one of the most affected areas during this time. It’s normal to experience changes in mood and behavior, but for some, these shifts can be more intense and require professional care. While postpartum depression is widely recognized, it’s just one of several mental health conditions that can arise during the perinatal phase. Others include perinatal anxiety, perinatal obsessive compulsive disorder and postpartum PTSD. #WomensHealthWeek shines a spotlight on women’s unique health needs and experiences at every life stage, including the perinatal period. Virtual care improves access to mental health resources and offers convenient, flexible support during this crucial period and beyond. #VirtualCare #MaternalMentalHealth
