Earlier this month, we gathered our store managers and store employment associates—the people charged with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding team members—in our support office for our first-ever Talent Sync. During the session, we introduced new tools, did some role-playing, and shared best practices to ensure everyone joining The GIANT Company team, no matter their role or work location, has the best experience possible, setting them up for success from interview to day one and throughout their orientation. Thanks to the entire talent and culture team, especially our presenters, for creating such a resource-rich day of learning!
Rise and shine! ☀ It’s time for a brand new Meet the Team Member Monday. Today we’re introducing you to Charlotte Scheid, MEd, RD, LDN, registered dietitian at The GIANT Company since 2019. Charlotte’s passion for nutrition sprouted during her previous career in corporate wellness in central Pennsylvania. From there, she decided to go back to school to earn a degree in nutritional sciences from Penn State University – she says it’s one of the best decisions she’s made. As a registered dietitian, Charlotte is involved with developing and delivering nutrition education for customers and team members. She says, “I spend a lot of time growing our virtual presence through social media, writing wellbeing content for GIANT’s Savory magazine and nutrition blogs, and working on commercial health and wellbeing initiatives.” Having a career so involved with what’s on the table, Charlotte shares, “I enjoy guiding customers towards healthier options and helping them think differently when it comes to their nutrition. I want them to know that creating better-for-you meals can be easy, affordable, and taste great. It is nice to hear success stories from customers and their appreciation for our dietitian program.” We’re lucky to have you on our team, Charlotte! Today, we released our third annual impact report, “2023: A Year to Celebrate,” highlighting our 100th anniversary and a century of making a difference in the lives of the families and communities we serve. “Since opening our first store in Carlisle, Pa. in 1923, The GIANT Company has always been committed to serving our local communities, both in and outside our stores,” said John Ruane, president, The GIANT Company. “As we celebrated our 100th anniversary last year, our efforts centered around areas where we can make the greatest impact: eliminating hunger, changing children’s lives, healing our planet, promoting wellbeing, and fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging.
