Inappropriate use of their Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) called a “Pivot” by unqualified people managers. It’s a barbaric tool that has nothing to do with performance. It’s used by mid and upper level managers to get rid of higher earners or a way for a mediocre manager to make the next level by demonstrating how much they saved the organization or even a method to remove an employee that rubs the manager the wrong way! If you happen to be on the receiving end of a Pivot, take the Severance! Those who fight and/or appeal don’t win.
