A new connection is taking shape in Ann Arbor, MI! Our team led the feasibility study and full design of a new underpass beneath the MDOT/Amtrak tracks, bringing a long-needed, safe crossing to the Border-to-Border Trail near Barton Nature Area and Bandemer Park. This underpass was constructed during a 48-hour, nonstop operation earlier this month. Using a “cut and cover” method, crews installed a box culvert tunnel during a tightly coordinated rail outage to minimize disruptions on this high-speed rail corridor. We’re proud to have delivered this transformational design in partnership with Wade Trim along with support from OHM Advisors and SMEUSA as our design subconsultants. Check out the incredible timelapse video of the installation.

In honor of National Dam Safety Awareness Day, we're taking a moment to highlight our work on the Indian Lake Dam Rehabilitation Project in New York State, a critical upgrade to a historic structure originally built in 1898. Located at the northern end of Indian Lake Reservoir, this dam plays a vital role in regional water management. Our team conducted a full integrity and hydraulic capacity study, then developed a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to address significant leakage and improve flow control. Key improvements include anchoring the dam for added stability, sealing for reduced seepage, and installing a vertical lift gate to better manage water levels. We also repurposed the non-overflow masonry section as an auxiliary spillway to increase resilience during high-flow events. With innovative design solutions and forward-thinking upgrades, the rehabilitation is modernizing this historic dam to ensure reliable performance and enhanced safety for the surrounding community. Over the past 60+ years, the Whippany and Passaic Rivers and their tributaries have filled with debris and sediment, leading to frequent and damaging floods in surrounding towns. Recognizing the need for a regional solution, the mayors of East Hanover, Hanover, Florham Park, Morris Plains, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Morristown, and Morris Township joined forces to form the Whippany-Passaic Rivers Flood Remediation Task Force. With the help of our municipal experts, including Andrew Hipolit, PE, PP, CME, CFM CPWM and Jeffrey Betz, PE, CME, MBA, the Task Force has launched a major initiative to develop a master plan for flood mitigation, starting with acquiring grants to fund the project and an in-depth helicopter survey to assess miles of riverbanks and tributaries. Learn more about this bipartisan effort to protect our communities and restore the health of our rivers.
Our team had a blast at Junior Achievement's Women's Future Leadership Forum at Rowan College of South Jersey where we had to opportunity to inspire and prepare female students for future career success. 🌟 This event was all about empowering students with the tools and experiences they need to explore career paths and build skills for the workplace. We were thrilled to take part in a dynamic park design brainstorming session, where students worked in teams to develop innovative ideas from accessibility-focused features to interactive park experiences. Alongside hands-on activities, students also had the opportunity to hear directly from professionals, gaining real-world insights into interviews, career development, and beyond. Our very own Mayte Javier, Municipal Engineering Designer II, joined a panel to share key lessons from her career journey, offering thoughtful insights and meaningful advice to help guide students in their own paths toward future success. 📣Shoutout to Mayte, along with Michelle Lipnitsky, Jodi Westhead, and Emily Roth, for representing us at this incredible event and making a lasting impact on the students through their support, insights, and inspiration! #JuniorAchievement #WomensLeadership #FutureGenerations
