Charles moved from his homeland of Nigeria to Germany and joined UPS over twenty years ago. He was awarded the 2023 Jim Casey Community Service Award for his incredible volunteering initiative — opening a school in his hometown of Enugu. Passionate about providing children with the opportunity to have a future and rise out of poverty, the Heavenly Kids Technical College provides classes in carpentry, electrical installation, shoemaking, fashion design and catering programmes. Charles hopes that when companies start flowing into Enugu, his students will have a competitive edge in the job market due to the skills they acquire. The personal sacrifice he makes to achieve his dream is truly incredible — he selflessly sends a portion of his salary to provide an income for staff members and resources for students. The payoff, for him, is seeing the children happy — and we couldn’t be more inspired by his amazing determination and generosity!
2023 stond in het teken van veel belangrijke overwinningen en onderscheidingen. We hebben wereldwijd meer dan 70 prijzen gewonnen voor innovatie, betrouwbaarheid, service en DEI (Diversiteit, Gelijkheid en Inclusie). Dit waren prijzen voor onder andere ‘Beste Klantenservice’, ‘Meest Gewaardeerd’, ‘Meest Innovatief’, ‘Beste Werkgever voor Vrouwen’ en ‘Beste Werkgever voor Diversiteit’. FT Magazine erkende ook onze CEO Carol B. Tomé, op de ‘Vrouw van het jaar’-lijst voor haar standvastige en consequente leiderschap tijdens de pandemie en haar inzet voor het creëren van een inclusieve bedrijfscultuur. Op naar nog veel meer prijzen en kansen voor onze UPS-medewerkers in 2024!
Maak kennis met Richard, de Community Connections Chair voor FoA's in Groot-Brittannië, Ierland en de Scandinavische landen (Denemarken, Zweden, Noorwegen en Finland) Richard maakt al 23 jaar een enorm verschil bij UPS. Nadat hij werd geconfronteerd met de uitdaging van het verlies van een ledemaat, brachten Richards passie en vastberadenheid om het bewustzijn over handicaps te verspreiden hem ertoe om de eerste Focus on Abilities Business Resource Group (FOA BRG) buiten de VS op te richten. Nu leidt hij deze BRG in Europa, het Midden-Oosten, India en Afrika. Van het samenwerken met de Special Olympics in negen hoofdsteden tot het organiseren van evenementen, campagnes en wedstrijden om het bewustzijn over handicaps te vergroten; Richard zorgt er iedere dag weer voor dat iedereen zich welkom en ‘empowered’ voelt. Met zijn achtergrond in operations staat hij altijd klaar om met iedereen een praatje te maken. Zo zorgt hij ervoor dat niet alleen hij, maar ook anderen een betekenisvolle carrière bij UPS kunnen opbouwen. Als je bij ons komt werken, kun je je aansluiten bij de FOA BRG.
